I'm starting a new Polyvore set feature using items costing $100 or less. Here is the first one:

How adorable is Rachel Bilson? I was always secretly rooting for her on The O.C. (she and Seth made a cute couple) and I love her style. I recreated an outfit that she wore last year only using items that cost $100 or less. I love it!

Fashion Inspiration: Reese Witherspoon I

Reese Witherspoon has always been one of my favorite actresses. Maybe not necessarily for her acting skills (have you seen Vanity Fair?), but more so because I think she's absolutely adorable and so classy! I loved her in Just Like Heaven (and isn't Mark Ruffalo equally adorable in it?). And one of my favorite movies is Sweet Home Alabama. So here's a Polyvore set in honor of, and inspired by, Reese:

2011 is the Year of Change

Or so I hope. It will, however, be the year that I make some changes to my blog. In case you haven't noticed it yet, I have already changed the title to "Betty's Closet".

When I originally created this blog, it was for an entirely different purpose. Apparently, my blog had a mind of its own and decided to go in a different direction, toward fashion and related topics. This wasn't my original intent, but instead of fighting it, I am embracing this and working with it, hence the new title.

I am hoping to be able to successfully get my Blog Spot address changed as well, and keeping my fingers crossed that it will automatically link everyone to the new one. (bettys-closet.blogspot.com) This will happen within the next day or so.

Just thought I'd give you all the heads up!

Golden Globes: Unexplored Best and Worst Dresses

So I've been catching just about every Golden Globes Best and Worst Dressed list that I can possibly come across. First of all, I have to say that I LOVE the green dresses that Catherine Zeta-Jones and Mila Kunis wore:

I am thoroughly confused as to why Angelina Jolie's green dress made it on so many Best Dressed lists. A little too 80s for my taste.

Really wasn't crazy about January Jones' choice either. It could have used a little more class for a red carpet event.

There were other dresses that I liked, such as Eva Longoria's, and Maria Menounos'. And of course Olivia Wilde's. I HATE Michelle Williams' daisy disaster, Christina Hendricks' all-over poofy look, and didn't understand at all what Helena Bonham Carter was thinking. (Was she?)

I watched Fashion Police on E! and agree with Kelly Osbourn that both Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson would have looked a lot better if they had switched dresses:

With all of that being said, this post is titled Unexplored Best and Worst Dresses, so time to move on.

While perusing these lists, I was surprised to find a couple of dresses that did NOT make anyone's list, which I felt were deserving. One dress that I thought should have made someone's worst list was Mandy Moore's (who I originally mistook for Katharine McPhee).

Am I wrong to hate this dress? I hate the tulle on the bottom and I hate the see-through part on top. It has too much of a 90s prom dress vibe for me. Anyone else agree?

And a person who I think looked very sophisticated and deserving of a Best Dressed nod was Heather Morris from Glee.Yes?

And finally, anyone else disappointed with Jayma Mays' look? I felt as though she was trying a little too hard to break from her Emma Pillsbury persona.

My Etsy Trend: Pears and Plums

I was scrolling through my favorites list on Etsy and noticed a definite color scheme happening. Many of my items were pear green or a deep purple. I have always loved purple, so that color wasn't surprising to see, but I had never really considered myself a huge fan of green. I suppose it's starting to grow on me. Here are a few of my faves:

I love, love, LOVE these ottomans! It may be due to the way the seller is displaying them, but I think that they are gorgeous.

This leather journal is actually already sold, (they sell really quickly, so if you see something you really like, you have to act fast!), but I still had to share it. Every now and then the seller puts this one back up for sale. Check out the other journals available. They are all really awesome!

I really love this canvas bag. I think I came across it while I was doing a search on canvas grocery bags. As an extra bonus, this one has a plum lining inside! This seller has many bags on my favorites list, and although I question how "handmade" these might be, I'm still in love with them.

In my dream house, I would have a purple-themed guest bedroom (I already have the perfect quilt). This pillow would have to be a part of it. I am a little disappointed that this is only being sold as a cover, (because really, who wants to have to go searching for the right-sized pillow to put inside of it?), but I still love it. This seller has some really unique pillow designs.

This is another item that has unfortunately sold, but I'm keeping it on my list because I love the colors. I'm hoping that the seller will make another one of these some day.

I'm not really sure why I like this purse. Maybe it's the two colors together? Or the cute butterfly decoration? Ideally, I would prefer this to be a brighter purple, but this works too.

I like how the seller chose to refurbish this vintage candle holder. The color works for me. I wonder what color it was initially?

I love these thank you cards. This seller has actually inspired me to (eventually) try my hand at card making to sell on Etsy. (I've made Christmas cards in the past for friends and family).

Here's a cute little photo album that uses both of these colors.

Every now and then I find myself drawn to some grape-themed items. I'm not sure why, maybe it's the purple color that comes along with them. (I have some great vintage purple grape salt and pepper shakers from Etsy!)

Last but not least is this awesome vintage bathing suit. I realize that this one isn't pear green, but I love it nonetheless and had to share it with you.

TEN Days of Christmas?

In case you hadn't noticed, I totally dropped the bomb on my Twelve Days of Christmas collection. I made it to day ten. I wanted to complete the Twelve Days of Christmas, but I grew bored with the outfits that I was creating when I had to come up with multiple looks. They were turning into looks that I would never wear or into something that really did not inspire me at all. So you will have to make do with the Ten Days of Christmas instead. :-)

To make it up for you, please enjoy my latest look. I was initially sticking to the orange and blue color scheme with this one, but then green snuck in through the purse and then kept resurfacing, so I decided to just run with it. I have no idea why I called it "Garden Party" other than the fact that I was desperately trying to come up with a title, and the name of the purse had garden in it, so there ya go.

P.S. This is probably my most affordable look to date! :-)

Eighth Day of Christmas: Eight Maids-a-Milking

Neither proud nor happy with this set, but I am determined to complete the Twelve Days of Christmas collection!

Fashion Challenge: Holiday IV

 Happy New Year to Everyone!

Here is my fourth and final submission to the Holiday Fashion Challenge hosted at What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear?. This is obviously a New Year's Eve look.

I prefer this one to the Holiday Ice look, which is odd, because I'm not typically a fan of gold.
